Over the past few years, we have empowered women across Fortune 500 companies to negotiate fair pay, exceed industry standards, and advance toward pay parity.
EmpowHERment Consulting was born from founder and Chief Executive Officer Cheryl A. Vaudreuil’s MBA wicked problem project at the Raymond A. Mason School of Business at William & Mary, created to address the persistent gender pay gap. Throughout her career in the military, government, and private sectors, Cheryl witnessed numerous women, brimming with talent and potential, systematically sidelined. Their invaluable contributions were routinely underestimated, and their voices, when raised, were often silenced. The pervasive atmosphere of intimidation, with the specter of retaliation and the devastating prospect of job loss looming large, effectively muzzled many. Witnessing such formidable women rendered powerless to assert themselves within the confines of corporate America laid bare the profound imbalances of power, stoking a fire of indignation within her. This wasn't merely an observation; it served as a powerful summons, urging her to step into the fray.
This issue was not just professional—it was personal. Cheryl faced similar challenges herself—her qualifications were questioned, salary requests dismissed, and her worth underestimated simply because she dared to claim her worth. Meanwhile, male colleagues with equal or lesser experience progressed with higher pay and fewer barriers. These experiences strengthened Cheryl’s resolve to empower women to find their voices, assert their worth, and secure the recognition they deserve.
During her MBA journey, Cheryl applied newly acquired skills in accounting, finance, and business analysis to champion pay parity. A defining moment came when she supported a senior IT program manager negotiating her salary at a Fortune 500 company. Together, they built a compelling case for a $265K salary with a 15% bonus— —surpassing the average earnings of her male peers. This success was more than an individual win; it demonstrated the transformative power of the right tools, strategy, and determination.
This experience inspired the creation of EmpowHERment Consulting—a platform designed to empower, educate, and advocate for equitable treatment in the workplace. The mission goes beyond individual victories; it seeks to dismantle systemic barriers and close the pay gap once and for all. With the right resources and support, EmpowHERment Consulting aims to build a future where women not only achieve pay parity but exceed it, leading industries and driving meaningful change.
